Monsieur le Président, je demande le consentement unanime de la Chambre pour la tenue d'un débat exploratoire ce soir, conformément à l'article 53(1) du Règlement, sur l'effet dévastateur qu'auront les négociations de l'Organisation mondiale du commerce sur les programmes de pêche, notamment la suppression du Programme des ports pour petits bateaux, l'élimination de l'exemption d'impôt sur les gains en capital, l'exclusion des pêcheurs du programme d'assurance-emploi et le retrait de la carte d'exemption de la taxe sur l'essence pour les pêcheurs.
Mr. Speaker, I rise to ask for the unanimous consent of this House to have a take note debate later this evening, pursuant to Standing Order 53(1), on the devastating effect the World Trade Organization negotiations will have on the fisheries programs, such as the elimination of small craft harbours programs, the elimination of the capital gains tax exemption, the elimination of employment insurance for fishermen, and the elimination of the gas tax card for fishermen.
