LEGAL PROTECTION OF THE FINANCIAL INTERESTS OF THE COMMUNITIES The Council heard a statement by Commissioner SCHMIDHUBER on the Commission's work regarding the legal protection of the financial interests of the Communities and the initiatives which the Commission intends to take following, notably, the Resolution adopted by the Justice and Home Affairs Council on 29 November 1993.

DROIT DE VOTE ET D'ELIGIBILITE AUX ELECTIONS MUNICIPALES En premier lieu le Conseil a entendu un exposé du Commissaire Vanni d'Archirafi présentant la proposition de son Institution visant à fixer les modalités de l'exercice du droit de vote et d'éligibilité aux élections municipales pour les citoyens de l'Union résidant dans un Etat membre dont ils n'ont pas la nationalité (une présentation similaire a déjà été faite au Conseil Affaires générales du 18/19 avril dernier).
RIGHT TO VOTE AND TO STAND AS A CANDIDATE IN MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS The Council firstly heard a statement by Mr VANNI d'ARCHIRAFI, Member of the Commission, introducing the Commission's proposal aimed at laying down detailed arrangements for the exercise of the right to vote and to stand as a candidate in municipal elections by citizens of the Union residing in a Member State of which they are not nationals (a similar presentation had already been made at the General Affairs Council on 18 and 19 April).
