RÉAFFIRME que l'objectif poursuivi par la Communauté européenne et les États membres est d'inclure de nouveaux POP dans la convention de Stockholm afin de contribuer à atteindre l'objectif de 2020 en ce qui concerne les produits chimiques qui a été adopté lors du sommet mondial sur le développement durable; SALUE et SOUTIENT les efforts consentis par la Commission et les États membres pour recenser et hiérarchiser les POP potentiels, y compris la proposition de la Commission visant à désigner de nouveaux POP; RECOMMANDE que la Communauté européenne et les États membres annoncent, lors de la COP 2, leur intention de faire une proposition visant à inclure au moins deux et jusqu'à quatre substances supplémentaires, qui devra être transmise au secrétariat, afin qu'elle puisse être examinée d'ici la deuxième réunion du Comité d'étude des POP. La présentation de substances supplémentaires requiert une décision du Conseil;
6. REAFFIRMS that the aim of the European Community and the Member States is that further POP substances be included under the Stockholm Convention in order to contribute to achieving the 2020 chemicals target adopted at the World Summit on Sustainable Development; WELCOMES and SUPPORTS the efforts by the Commission and Member States to identify and prioritise between the potential POP substances, including the Commission’s proposal for the nomination of new POPs; RECOMMENDS that the European Community and the Member States announce at COP 2 their intention of making a proposal for at least two and up to four additional substances, to be forwarded to the Secretariat, in order to allow examination by the second meeting of the POPs Review Committee. The submission of further substances will require a decision by the Council;

The initial measures, which have been approved by the Commission and mark an important "first" in Community cooperation in the field, include the following : a) Adoption of a guide to civil protection in the European Community The purpose of this guide will be to describe the latest situation as regards disaster relief in the Community, including information on mechanisms for placing the emergency services on alert and for raising the alarm in good time, on the possibilities for calling on outside assistance, on the coordination of action extending beyond national frontiers and on the range of resources which can be deployed (equipment, personnel, services, data bases, etc.). b) Creation of a permanent network of civil protection liaison officers The task of this network, which is due to become operational on 1 July 1987, will be to enable the prompt exchange of information on requirements and resources in the Community for dealing with natural and man-made disasters.
