My colleague Mr. Crête mentioned some of the changes in the rules regarding parliamentarians' travel, which now allow a certain amount of flexibility for Canadian parliamentarians to go down to Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, the change in the rules does not allow parliamentarians to use any of their travel points anywhere in the United States, except in Washington, D.C. When we do go down to Washington, we're being told that in fact sometimes the best place to get the ear of the U.S. senator or congressman or congresswoman is actually in their district, not in Washington, where there's so much competition for their limited time.
