Le Conseil se félicite que le président Clinton ait décidé le 3 janvier de proroger d'une nouvelle période de six mois la suspension partielle de l'application de la loi Helms-Burton, ce qui constitue un nouveau pas dans la bonne direction, et qu'il ait bon espoir que cette suspension serait maintenue à l'avenir.
The Council welcomed as a further step in the right direction President Clinton's decision of 3 January to extend for a further six months the partial suspension of the implementation of the Helms-Burton Act and his expectation that he would continue that suspension in the future.
