Mon inquiétude est qu’après avoir consolidé les compétences du Parlement, nous ne réussissions pas maintenant à honorer les responsabilités que nous confie l’instrument et qui vont nécessiter beaucoup de travail de la part de cette Assemblée, de sa commission du développement et de son personnel qu’il faut étoffer en conséquence si nous voulons être en mesure d’assumer cette tâche. Mais le plus gros du travail incombera aux groupes parlementaires, dont les obligations se multiplieront étant donné qu’ils doivent contribuer aux documents stratégiques de chaque pays visé par la coopération au développement de l’UE, ainsi qu’au suivi des programmes entérinés.
My concern is that, having consolidated Parliament’s competences, we are now going to fail to meet the responsibilities conferred on us by the instrument and which are going to require a lot of work on the part of the House, its Committee on Development, its staff, which must be increased, incidentally, if we want to be in a position to take on the work, and, above all, on the part of the parliamentary groups, whose obligations are going to be increased since they will have to contribute to the strategy documents for each country targeted by European Union development cooperation, and in monitoring the programmes that are approved.

Koukiadis, que nous n’avons toujours pas reçu de réponse précise sur le point suivant: le gouvernement britannique a manifestement transposé avec beaucoup de retard dans le droit national la directive relative à l’assurance privée, qui aurait dû être d’application en Grande-Bretagne et couvrirait l’affaire Lloyd’s.
However, the problem remains, as my honourable friend Mr Koukiadis has highlighted in such a proper and constructive manner, that we do not have clear answers to the following: the British government was obviously very late in transposing into national legislation the directive which should also have applied in Great Britain to the issue of the private insurance which would also cover the Lloyd's case.
