Sous prétexte de la peine de mort barbare par lapidation prononcée contre Sakineh Mohammad-Ashtiani et de la persécution inacceptable du mouvement populaire, tous les groupes politiques du Parlement européen ont, dans une rare manifestation d’unanimité, adopté une résolution leur permettant de renforcer leur ingérence impérialiste en Iran.
On the pretext of the barbaric death penalty by stoning passed on Sakineh Mohammad-Ashtiani and the unacceptable persecution of the grassroots movement, all the political groups in the European Parliament have, in a rare display of unanimity, adopted a resolution to step up imperialist intervention in Iran.

– (IT) Madame la Présidente, Mesdames et Messieurs, j’ajoute ma voix à toutes celles qui appellent à la suppression de cet acte barbare de lapidation et au respect des droits de l’homme - non seulement pour Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani, mais pour toutes les femmes et tous les hommes qui sont dans la même situation.
– (IT) Madam President, ladies and gentlemen, I add my voice to all those that are calling for this barbaric act of stoning for adultery not to be perpetrated and for human rights to be respected – not only for Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani, but for all those women and also men who are in the same situation.

Je demande à mes collègues de se joindre à moi en vue de défendre ces jeunes hommes et jeunes femmes qui sont victimes en Afghanistan de cette pratique absolument barbare qu'est la lapidation.

Urges countries which still have recourse to death by stoning to abolish legislation providing for this inhuman punishment; urges the Iranian leaders to enact a law unequivocally banning stoning as a legal punishment, which is the most barbaric form of the death penalty; condemns the fact that many countries still sentence to death and execute juvenile offenders; condemns the Iranian regime's use of the death penalty, which places Iran in second position, just after China, in the league table of countries with the highest number of executions; strongly condemns the increased number of executions following the peaceful demonstrations after presidential elections in Iran in June 2009; is concerned that China still carries out the greatest number of executions worldwide and calls on China to make its national execution figures public, so that there can be transparent analysis and debate on the death penalty; welcomes the positive action of the Belarusian authorities in setting up a Working Group to draft proposals on imposing a moratorium on the death penalty; remains concerned that executions are still carried out in Belarus, which is the only country in Europe that continues to use the death penalty, leaving the families of those executed without information on the date of the execution or where the body is buried;
