Aux fins de la présente directive, les institutions dépositaires du patrimoine cinématographique ou sonore devraient comprendre les organismes désignés par les États membres pour collecter, cataloguer, préserver et restaurer les films et autres œuvres audiovisuelles ou les phonogrammes qui font partie de leur patrimoine culturel.
Film or audio heritage institutions should, for the purposes of this Directive, cover organisations designated by Member States to collect, catalogue, preserve and restore films and other audiovisual works or phonograms forming part of their cultural heritage.

Le volet MEDIA soutiendra la distribution mondiale de plus de 1 000 films européens sur des plates-formes classiques ou numériques; par ailleurs, il aidera financièrement les professionnels de l’audiovisuel, de manière que ceux-ci aient accès aux marchés internationaux et puissent y travailler efficacement; enfin, il encouragera la création de films et d’autres œuvres audiovisuelles ayant un fort potentiel transfrontalier.
The MEDIA strand will support the worldwide distribution of more than 1,000 European films, via traditional and digital platforms; it will also provide funding for audiovisual professionals to help them access and successfully work in international markets, and will foster the development of films and other audiovisual works with a potential for cross-border circulation.

2. Dans sa communication concernant certains aspects juridiques liés aux œuvres cinématographiques et autres œuvres audiovisuelles 2, la Commission s'est intéressée au dépôt légal d'œuvres audiovisuelles au niveau national ou régional comme l'un des moyens possibles pour conserver et sauvegarder le patrimoine audiovisuel européen et a commencé à dresser un état de la situation en ce qui concerne le dépôt des œuvres cinématographiques dans les États membres, les pays candidats et les pays de l'AELE.
The Commission Communication on certain legal aspects relating to cinematographic and other audiovisual works examined the legal deposit of audiovisual works at the national or regional level as one of the possible ways of conserving and safeguarding the European audiovisual heritage and launched a stocktaking exercise of the situation of deposit of cinematographic works in Member States, candidate countries and EFTA countries.
