The Italian delegation indicated that the law entered partly into force on 12 December 2003 but that the requirements imposed on the exporting companies, including registration with the Food and Drug Administration, the presence of a correspondent in the USA, were constraining and may deter exporting businesses in particular small and medium-sized companies.
