In its opinion, prepared by Mr Van Gelder (NL/EPP), the Committee of the Regions (CoR) stresses that the proposed Directive on Community measures for the control of foot and mouth disease should include the development of a sound communication strategy, under which local and regional councils would channel essential information to the public.
