In 2007, Act No 530/2007 amended Act No 581/2004 and prohibited insurance companies active in the compulsory health insurance sector from paying out profits in the form of dividends with effect from 1 January 2008, thereby imposing an obligation to reinvest surpluses generated in the Slovak health system.
