I myself have visited several radioactive waste storage facilities, and I firmly believe that a shortage of funding might directly lead to them becoming less safe, which is something we must prevent in Europe.

In conclusion, the Commission is of the opinion that the implementation of the plan for the disposal of radioactive waste in whatever form, arising from the IRAW-CRAM Storage Facility for Radioactive Waste located adjacent to the National Radioactive Waste Repository at Mochovce in Slovakia, both in normal operation and in the event of an accident of the type and magnitude considered in the General Data, is not liable to result in a radioactive contamination, significant from the point of view of health, of the water, soil or airspace of another Member State.
Concluderend is de Commissie van mening dat de uitvoering van het plan voor de verwijdering van radioactieve afvalstoffen, in welke vorm ook, uit de IRAW-CRAM-Opslagfaciliteit voor radioactief afval, gelegen naast de Nationale Opslagplaats voor radioactieve afvalstoffen te Mochovce in Slowakije, zowel in normale bedrijfsomstandigheden als bij een ongeval van het type en de omvang als bedoeld in de algemene gegevens, niet het risico doet ontstaan van voor de volksgezondheid significante radioactieve besmetting van het water, de bodem of het luchtruim van een andere lidstaat.

On 24 March 2014, the European Commission received from the Slovak Government, in accordance with Article 37 of the Euratom Treaty, General Data relating to the plan for the disposal of radioactive waste from the Mochovce IRAW-CRAM Storage Facility for Radioactive Waste.
Op 24 maart 2014 heeft de Europese Commissie overeenkomstig artikel 37 van het Euratom-Verdrag van de Slowaakse regering algemene gegevens ontvangen betreffende het plan voor de lozing van radioactieve afvalstoffen uit de IRAW-CRAM-Opslagfaciliteit voor radioactief afval te Mochovce, Slowakije.

(7a) In view of the Commission Ex Ante Evaluation of 27 October 2009 1 , EUR 180 million of the funds is intended to assist the following projects: (1) project management, technical assistance for the support of the implementation of the decommissioning programme; (2) the provision of salaries for experts (operation, maintenance, technical support, project management) at the Kozloduy site, working for the decommissioning of Units 1-4; (3) contribution to the construction of the National Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility, crucial for the implementation of the decommissioning programme, in particular for the storage of low and intermediate level waste in the first 10 years of implementation; (4) site infrastructure and treatment of dismantled waste (including additional allocation for projects already in the tendering process).
(7 bis) Uitgaande van de evaluatie ex ante van de Commissie d.d. 27 oktober 2009 1 , is hiervan 180 miljoen EUR bestemd voor ondersteuning van de volgende projecten: (1) projectbeheer en technische bijstand ter ondersteuning van de uitvoering van het ontmantelingsprogramma; (2) de salarissen van de deskundigen (onderhoud, technische ondersteuning, projectbeheer) in de centrale van Kozloduy die werken aan de buitenbedrijfstelling van de reactoren 1 tot en met 4; (3) bijdrage aan de bouw van een nationale faciliteit voor de berging van radioactief afval, die cruciaal is voor de tenuitvoerlegging van het ontmantelingsprogramma, in het bijzonder met het oog op de opslag van laag- en middelactief afval tijdens de eerste 10 jaar van de implementatie; (4) locatie-infrastructuur en behandeling van verwijderde afvalstoffen (inclusief de aanvullende toewijzing van projecten waarvoor reeds een aanbesteding is uitgeschreven).

In conclusion, the Commission is of the opinion that the implementation of the plan for the disposal of radioactive waste in whatever form arising from the East Northants Low-level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility in the United Kingdom, during its normal operational life and after its final closure, as well as in the event of an accident of the type and magnitude considered in the General Data, is not liable to result in the radioactive contamination of the water, soil or airspace of another Member State.
Concluderend is de Commissie van mening dat de uitvoering van het plan voor de verwijdering van radioactieve afvalstoffen, in welke vorm ook, uit de East Northants-faciliteit voor de verwijdering van laagactief afval, gelegen in Northamptonshire in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, gedurende de normale exploitatieperiode en na de definitieve sluiting, zowel bij normale bedrijfsvoering als bij een ongeval van het type en de omvang als bedoeld in de algemene gegevens, niet het risico doet ontstaan van radioactieve besmetting van het water, de bodem of het luchtruim van een andere lidstaat.

On 3 June 2010, the European Commission received from the British Government, in accordance with Article 37 of the Euratom Treaty, General Data relating to the plan for the disposal of radioactive waste arising from the East Northants Low-level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility.
Op 3 juni 2010 heeft de Europese Commissie overeenkomstig artikel 37 van het Euratom-Verdrag van de Britse regering algemene gegevens ontvangen betreffende het plan voor de lozing van radioactieve afvalstoffen uit de East Northants-faciliteit voor de verwijdering van laagactief afval in Northamptonshire.
