Parliamentary Association Committee: this is a forum for Members of the European Parliament and of Ukraine’s Parliament to meet and exchange views.

42. Appreciates the effective and dynamic work of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee in overseeing the political, security and economic situation in Ukraine, as well as its commitment and support vis-à-vis improving the overall EU-oriented reform processes undertaken by the Ukrainian authorities; recalls the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament in 2015 establishing a joint framework for parliamentary support and capacity-building between the two parliaments;
42. waardeert het doeltreffende en dynamische werk van het Parlementair Associatiecomité EU-Oekraïne bij het toezicht op de politieke, economische en veiligheidssituatie in Oekraïne, evenals zijn inzet en steun voor de verbetering van de op de EU georiënteerde hervormingsprocessen van de Oekraïense autoriteiten; wijst op het memorandum van overeenstemming dat in 2015 is ondertekend door de Verkhovna Rada van Oekraïne en het Europees Parlement met het oog op de oprichting van een gezamenlijk kader voor parlementaire steun en capaciteitsopbouw tussen de twee parlementen;

Stresses the importance of its cooperation with the Parliament of Georgia as a way to monitor the implementation of the Agreement and the Agenda; believes that the entry into force of the Agreement and the creation of the new institutional framework for cooperation, which includes the Association Council, calls for a similar upgrade of the situation at parliamentary level; believes, therefore, that it is necessary to create a specific EU-Georgia parliamentary association committee, considering the varying scope of relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan;

(i) Stresses the parliamentary dimension of the AA, with the establishment of a Parliamentary Association Committee, made up of Members of the European Parliament and Central American parliamentarians, which is to be kept informed of decisions taken by the Association Council and may make recommendations and gather information on how the agreement is being implemented;

Welcomes the fact that the consolidation of the rule of law in each country in the region, the protection and promotion of human rights and protection of the environment remain priorities in relations between the EU and Central America, in the political dialogue and in cooperation, with a view to collaborating with both state and regional institutions and civil society actors, and in this context highlights the EU-Central American Civil Society Joint Consultative Committee and the creation of a Parliamentary Association Committee.

5. The Association Parliamentary Committee may request of the Association Council relevant information regarding the implementation of this Agreement, and the Association Council shall supply the Committee with the requested information.

6. The Association Parliamentary Committee shall be informed of the decisions and recommendations of the Association Council.
