4. Notes that some shark species (particularly blue shark and shortfin mako, which represent 99 % of total catches) listed in Annex 1 to the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea are main species targeted by the EU surface long-line fleet and that the Standing Committee on Research and Statistics (SCRS) of ICCAT considers that they are exploited within safe biological limits; calls on the Commission to report to Parliament on the actions taken by the Joint Committee in response to the science-based study to be carried out as described in Article 4, paragraph 6 of the Annex to the Protocol, in order to have guarantees that this fishery is exploited in a sustainable and responsible way; stresses that Parliament should also be informed about the data obtained as regards shark stocks;
4. fait observer que certaines espèces de requins (en particulier le requin bleu et le requin-taupe bleu, qui représentent 99 % des captures totales), répertoriées à l'annexe 1 de la convention des Nations unies sur le droit de la mer de 1982, figurent parmi les principales espèces pêchées par la flotte de palangriers de surface et que le comité permanent de la recherche et des statistiques (CPRS) de la CICTA estime qu'elles sont exploitées dans des limites biologiques raisonnables; demande à la Commission d'informer le Parlement des actions entreprises par la commission mixte dans le prolongement de l'étude scientifique qui doit être menée en vertu de l'article 4, paragraphe 6, de l'annexe au protocole, afin d'obtenir des garanties sur l'exploitation durable et responsable de cette pêcherie; souligne que le Parlement doit aussi être informé des données obtenues en ce qui concerne les stocks de requins;

On 24 September 2009, the Commission received a notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004 (1) by which the undertaking BAE Systems plc (‘BAE Systems’, United Kingdom) acquires within the meaning of Article 3(1)(b) of the Regulation control of the whole of the undertaking BVT Surface Fleet Limited (‘BVT’, United Kingdom), a company currently jointly-controlled by BAE Systems and VT Group plc, by way of purchase of shares.
