In this context, it appears to your Rapporteur that a gradual harmonisation of excise duty within the European Union at medium term would indeed be the best remedy to such a situation and he would support the Commission in its future attempts to narrow the existing gap between rates at EU level.
Dès lors, votre rapporteur estime qu'une harmonisation progressive à moyen terme des taux d'accise au sein de l'Union européenne constituerait la meilleure solution à apporter à cette situation; il soutiendra donc la Commission dans ses actions futures de réduction de l'écart entre les taux d'accise à l'échelon de l'Union.
