The financial contribution referred to in the Agreement comprises an annual amount of EUR 260 000 equivalent to a reference tonnage of 4 000 tonnes per year, therefore the EU pays EUR 65 per tonne, a figure which sounds paltry when the street price of tuna is EUR 30 per kg, a mark-up of 50,000 %, which could be regarded as exploitation, not development!
