B. whereas, because of the various attacks committed by the FARC, the hijack of an aircraft, and the kidnapping of Senator Crechen, President Pastrana, who throughout his term of office has been endeavouring to bring about a negotiated solution to the conflict, has broken off the peace process into which he entered with the FARC, since it is impossible to talk to people who carry out murder and abductions while they are negotiating,
