The European Commission adopted a cross-border co-operation programme between Greece and Turkey, which will be financed by the Community Initiative INTERREG III. The programme covers the whole of the eligible neighbouring regions of the two countries for the period 2004-2006. The programme's main objectives are to promote sustainable development of the cross-border region and economic co-operation.
La Commission européenne a adopté un programme de coopération transfrontalière entre la Grèce et la Turquie. Ce programme, dont le financement sera assuré par l'initiative INTERREG III, couvre tout le territoire des régions éligibles contiguës des deux pays pour la période 2004-2006; il vise principalement à promouvoir le développement durable de la zone transfrontalière ainsi que la coopération économique.

The European Commission considers that with the recent accession of Turkey and Greece to the INOGATE Umbrella Agreement on the institutional framework of interstate oil and gas transport, the participation of Iran as an observer in INOGATE and with the latest decision to extend the programme to the Mediterranean countries, the conditions are now met to achieve substantial progress in the implementation of such strategic infrastructure.
