The Council takes note of efforts made by the Uzbek authorities to address some of the serious shortcomings as regards the human rights situation in Uzbekistan, in particular, through enhanced cooperation with the EU, UN agencies, the OSCE and other international organisations in a number of key areas such as criminal justice reform, the fight against human trafficking, human rights education and prison reform.
