In its October 2011 communication on the future of the Solidarity Fund, the Commission sets out its idea for improving the Fund, confining itself to making certain adjustments to the current regulation, which will maintain its rationale and character. We did not ask for information on the reasons why the EIB granted the funding. We simply asked what the general criteria which justified it were and which assessments were used when considering and granting the funds for the project – which, moreover, affects one of the richest areas in Italy, and which has a delicate environmental balance.
