Personally, I will be retiring from the Senate in the next 12 months and will therefore not be affected by these changes, which will come into force in 2016 or 2017, but for those who are here today, and who will be here after 2016 or 2017, putting them on the same footing, with the same contributions, as public servants who work 37.5 hours a week and who are protected by collective agreements, and asking that of parliamentarians who work 100 hours a week, there is something that bothers me for the next people entering Parliament.

Mais je trouve que, pour ceux qui sont ici aujourd'hui, et qui vont être là après 2016, 2017, les mettre sur le même pied, avec les mêmes contributions que les fonctionnaires qui travaillent 37.5 heures par semaine — et qui sont protégés par les conventions collectives —, et demander cela à des parlementaires qui travaillent 100 heures par semaine, il y a quelque chose ici qui me choque, pour les prochaines personnes qui vont rejoindre le Parlement.
