This bill, introduced by my colleague from Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound, would prohibit the bulk removal of water from transboundary waters, waters that flow across borders.
Ce projet de loi, qui a été présenté par mon collègue de Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound, interdirait le captage massif d’eaux transfrontalières, c'est-à-dire d'eaux qui traversent la frontière, renforçant ainsi les mesures de protection qui visent à empêcher le captage massif d'eaux transfrontalières, dans des plans d'eau dont une partie se trouve aux États-Unis, par exemple, les Grands Lacs.

– (FR) On the basis of the own-initiative report of my German friend and colleague Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, I voted in favour of the Resolution on a Competitive Automotive Regulatory Framework, following the Communication from the European Commission based on the ‘CARS 21’ high-level group.

In terms of the pilot projects and preparatory actions, we have a range of different possibilities; in terms of internal policies, where we are wanting to underpin innovation, and where we are looking in terms of security at a major initiative on migration management, thanks to our friend and colleague Mr Deprez from the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs; and, last but not least, on external policy, to see what we can do to build up linkages with China and India, because, as reflected from the outset, in the present globalising world we do not have the right kind of networks which link our business and scientists with those of China and India.

I thank the two rapporteurs who brought this through the committee to this plenary and I wish the Commissioner well in his work. May I also wish well Mr Sjöstedt, our friend and colleague from the Environment Committee.

I hope that, in just a few years’ time, our new friends and colleagues will be able to sit down here with us in the Chamber instead of just listening from the gallery.
