We had some excellent presentations yesterday with respect to a number of issues that were in contention from the Canadian Bar Association and Mr. Justice LeSage who appeared before us, as well.

Projects will be funded on the basis of proposals presented by researchers both from the private and public sectors on subjects of their choice and evaluated on the sole criterion of excellence as judged by peer review.

First, I must say I was particularly impressed by Senator Lynch-Staunton's excellent presentation yesterday.
Je dois d'abord avouer que j'ai été particulièrement impressionné par l'excellente présentation faite hier par le sénateur Lynch-Staunton.

The development of our airports in fact passes through significant increases in our income, something that can only be achieved by welcoming new activities on their site, such as charter flights, freight transport, business flights and excellent customer service (...) It must be noted that the basic equipment is far from sufficient for meeting the requirements linked to development of new activities (...). As for Gosselies, although it has suitable buildings and sufficient parking areas for the present, the limited length of its runway will be a disadvantage in terms of the types of activity that it can accommodate".
Le développement de nos aéroports passe en effet par une croissance sensible de nos recettes, ce qui ne peut se réaliser que par l'accueil de nouvelles activités sur leur site; à titre d'exemple: les vols charters, les transports de fret, les vols d'affaires ainsi que par un excellent service à la clientèle (...) Il faut bien constater que l'équipement de base est loin d'être suffisant pour répondre aux exigences liées au développement d'activités nouvelles (...) Quant à Gosselies, s'il dispose de bâtiments performants et d'aires de parquage suffisantes pour l'instant, la longueur réduite de sa piste le pénalise quant aux types d'activités qu'il pourrait accueillir".
