I also wish to support e-twinning of European schools since that seems to me to be an excellent way of bringing about cooperation between schools from every corner of Europe. What is more, it will help us promote intercultural dialogue and language learning and will also facilitate exchanges between children who have got to know each other through the new technologies and who would like to meet face to face.
Je tiens également à soutenir le jumelage électronique d'écoles européennes car il me semble qu'il s'agit d'un excellent moyen de réaliser des collaborations entre des écoles éparpillées dans toute l'Europe, que cela nous permettra d'encourager le dialogue interculturel, l'apprentissage des langues et que cela facilitera les échanges entre enfants qui se connaissent par le biais des nouvelles technologies et qui ont envie de se connaître en personne.

5. Considers that the current arrangement, whereby Member States second teachers to the European Schools is not equitable since Member States providing teachers who teach in a widely-spoken language (for example, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland with 308 and Germany and Austria with 239 out from 1.390 seconded teachers) bear a disproportionate financial burden; more autonomy for European Schools is requested also regarding the recruitment of teachers, which would increase the responsibility of the European Schools and lead to a more efficient system;
5. considère que les dispositions actuelles, en vertu desquelles les États membres détachent des professeurs dans les écoles européennes, ne sont pas équitables, étant donné que les États membres envoyant des professeurs qui enseignent dans une langue de large diffusion (par exemple, sur un total de 1 390 enseignants détachés, le Royaume-Uni, la République d'Irlande, avec 308 enseignants, et l'Allemagne et l'Autriche, avec 239 enseignants) supportent une charge financière disproportionnée; il convient que les écoles européennes bénéficient d'une plus grande autonomie en ce qui concerne aussi le recrutement des enseignants, ce qui accroîtrait la responsabilité de ces écoles et conduirait à un système plus efficace;

The development of transnational pilot projects on cooperation in education has produced important results in terms of experience, even though the projects were only on a very small scale: * creation of a network of 208 training institutions to promote the European dimension in the training of teachers and teacher trainers; * since 1989 1 600 teachers have taken part in exchanges to establish links between schools with a view to promoting the European dimension in education; * 40 school partnerships involving 160 schools have been formed to foster cooperation between schools; * since 1978, 6 000 education specialists have participated in study visits organised under the ARION programme, with the focus on priority subjects specified by the Council or Member States; * 300 projects on schooling for the children of migrants, itinerant workers and gypsies have been implemented to date; * 200 projects in the field of new information technologies in education have led to exchanges of information, practices and methods.
Le développement des projets pilotes transnationaux dans le domaine de la coopération en éducation, a donné de résultats significatifs en termes d'expériences, même s'il s'agit de projets à échelle très limitée : ° création d'un réseau de 208 institutions de formation (RIF) visant à promouvoir la dimension européenne dans la formation des enseignants et de leurs formateurs; ° 1.600 enseignants ont participé depuis 1989 à des échanges visant à établir des liens entre les écoles afin de développer des activités pour promouvoir la dimension européenne en éducation; ° 4O partenariats scolaires impliquant 160 écoles ont été constitués visant à promouvoir la coopération scolaire; ° 6.000 spécialistes de l'éducation ont participé depuis 1978 à des visites d'étude organisées dans le cadre de l'action ARION autour de thèmes prioritaires définis par le Conseil ou les Etats membres; ° 300 projets en faveur de la scolarisation des enfants de migrants, de professionnels itinérants et de tziganes ont été menés à ce jour; ° 200 projets dans le domaine des nouvelles technologies de l'information dans l'éducation ont permis des échanges d'informations, de pratiques et de méthodes.
