Facing this near-tragedy ECHO responded very quickly with support for a medical programme (medicines and surgical equipment) and a logistic programme to provide blankets, plastic sheeting, etc., with ECU 700 000 for the ICRC and ECU 300 000 for Médecins Sans Frontières (France).
Face à cette situation dramatique, ECHO a décidé de réagir très rapidemment en soutenant un programme médical (médicaments, matériel chirurgical) et logistique (couvertures, plastic sheeting...) par l'intermédiaire de deux organisations, le CICR pour un montant de 700.000 ECU et Médecins Sans Frontières (F) pour un montant de 300.000 ECU.
