With reference to section 145 and support payments, there is a need to require some clarification because it appears not to distinguish between support payments that are being deducted currently under paragraphs 56(1)(b) and 60(b) of the Income Tax Act and those that will apply to gay and lesbian couples who prior to this legislation could not avail themselves of the benefits of the Income Tax Act provisions until 2001.
