On 6 February 2007, the Director-General wrote a letter to the Prime minister of Israel, recalling the terms of World Heritage Committee Decision 30COM 7A.34 and expressing « UNESCO's serious concern regarding this situation », and asked him to provide the World Heritage Centre with information on activities occurring « in the immediate vicinity of the Esplanade of Mosques ».
