Emphasises the fact that the concept of integration is intended to guarantee social cohesion by recognising diversity in reciprocity, and draws attention to the importance of obtaining nationality and as a means of facilitating the positive integration of immigrants, also in the light of the conclusions of the Tampere European Council in December 2006 which reiterated the objective to offer citizens from third countries who have been residents in the Union for a long time the possibility of obtaining the citizenship of the member state in which they live,
