Het netwerk wees bijvoorbeeld op het volgende : « In spite of Tunisia’s complete failure to meet its commitments towards the EU in the field of human rights and democracy, [.] the EU expressed its readiness since 2008 to work towards an advanced partnership with Tunisia. [.] The progress reports clearly show that the European Commission, and thus all of the European institutions and Member States, are aware of the human rights situation in Tunisia and the lack of compliance with its commitments, even though they are formulated in diplomatic language».
Le réseau rappelait ainsi que, dès 2008, l'UE a fait part de sa disposition à travailler en direction d'un partenariat avancé avec la Tunisie et ce, malgré l'absence totale de respect de ses engagements en matière de droits de l'homme comme le démontrent les rapports de l'UE. Les rapports de suivi montrent clairement que la Commission européenne, et donc l'ensemble des institutions européennes et les États membres, sont au fait de la situation au chapitre des droits de l'homme en Tunisie et du non-respect de ses engagements par ce pays, même s'ils sont formulés en des termes diplomatiques.
