Bovendien blijkt dat de internationale organisatie die bevoegd is voor de standaardisering van het gsm-systeem, het ETSI (« European Telecommunications Standards Institute »), zich bewust van de problemen die verbonden zijn aan de mogelijkheid om IMEI-nummers van sommige types van gsm-eindapparatuur te vervalsen, in 2000 een nieuwe specificatie heeft uitgevaardigd die aan de fabrikanten van gsm-eindapparatuur de verplichting oplegt om de integriteit te waarborgen van het IMEI-identificatienummer van de nieuwe toestellen die zij vervaardigen : bijgevolg zal met die nieuwe eis een toenemend aandeel van de totale hoeveelheid gsm-eindapparatuur nog veel beter beschermd zijn tegen het gevaar voor vervalsing van het IMEI-nummer, hetgeen vanzelfsprekend de efficiëntie van het EIR-systeem zal vergroten.
De plus, il apparaît que, consciente des problèmes liés à la possibilité de falsification des numéros IMEI de certains types de équipements terminaux GSM, l'organisation internationale compétente pour la normalisation du système GSM, l'ETSI (« Europ ean Telecommunications Standards Institute »), a édicté en 2000 une nouvelle spécification imposant aux fabricants d'équipements terminaux GSM de garantir l'intégrité du numéro d'identification IMEI des nouveaux appareils qu'ils produisent : par conséquent, avec cette nouvelle exigence, une proportion croissante du parc d'équipements terminaux GSM sera encore beaucoup mieux protégée contre les risques de falsification du numéro IMEI, ce qui accroîtra évidemment l'efficacité du système EIR.
