Bij de omzetting in Belgisch recht werd de term "alternatieve instelling voor collectieve belegging" verkozen boven de term "alternatieve beleggingsinstelling".
Lors de sa transposition en droit belge le terme "organisme de placement collectif alternatif" a été préféré à celui de "fonds d'investissement alternatif".

De term "beleggingsfonds", welbekend op Europees niveau, maar ook op internationaal niveau, moet dus verkozen worden boven de term "instelling voor collectieve belegging", omdat het gebruikt wordt in lijn met de terminologie van EU-wetgeving (zoals de AIFM Richtlijn) en de internationale wetgeving.
