— d'appliquer et d'encourager les initiatives, les politiques et les programmes et de surveiller leur mise en œuvre, si nécessaire, conformément à la résolution 1325 sur les femmes, la paix et la sécurité adoptée par le Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies en 2000 ainsi que la déclaration du Conseil de l'Europe, le programme d'action et la résolution sur la démocratisation, la prévention des conflits et la paix, afin de promouvoir le rôle des femmes et des hommes dans la prévention et la règlement des conflits, la construction de la paix et les processus démocratiques post-conflictuels; et ceci notamment en concrétisant pleinement les droits fondamentaux de la femme et le règlement pacifique des conflits, la participation équilibrée des femmes et des hommes à la prise de décision, la promotion de l'égalité entre les femmes et les hommes et l'intégration de la dimension du genre, la lutte contre la violence fondée sur le sexe visant les populations civiles, en particulier les femmes et les filles;

Naast het uitwerken van een politieke oplossing van het conflict is het inderdaad van groot belang dat de post-conflictfase voorbereid wordt.
En plus de l'élaboration d'une solution politique au conflit, il est en effet très important de préparer aussi la phase post-conflit.

Een recent voorbeeld daarvan is de « Peace Building Commission », een recentelijk door de Verenigde Naties (VN) gecreëerd forum waarvan zowel België als Burundi lid zijn en waarbij Burundi — mede op aandringen van België — als één van de eerste landen wordt « behandeld » door dit nieuwe forum, dat vooral de coördinatie op het oog heeft binnen de VN en de internationale gemeenschap in landen die zich bevinden in een post-conflict- en post-transitie-fase.
Un exemple récent est la « Peace Building Commission », un forum récemment créé par les Nations unies dont aussi bien la Belgique que le Burundi sont membres et dans lequel le Burundi — également sur insistance de la Belgique — est le premier pays qui soit « traité » par ce nouveau forum, qui vise principalement la coordination au sein des Nations unies et de la communauté internationale dans des pays qui se trouvent dans une phase post-conflictuelle et post-transitionnelle.
