Un peu plus tard, le Scientific Panel on Food Additives, Flavourings, Processing Aids and Materials in Contact with Foods de l’EFSA (EFSA, 2008a) a validé cette DJA de 0,5 mg/kg/jour pour toutes les sources de lycopène, en ce compris celui extrait de la tomate, en se basant sur un NOAEL de 50 mg/kg/jour (No-Observed-Adverse-Effect Level) et en utilisant un facteur de sécurité de 100.
