It describes the results of the prospective follow-up of the adverse effects of consuming energy drinks, especially during the five months that passed after the most famous of these drinks was allowed to be marketed in France (15 July 2008).

Two studies from the USA and Italy also note that there is a very clear tendency for young people to consume these drinks in combination with alcohol, which reduces the symptoms of alcohol intoxication, as well as their awareness of this state. This in turn results in a rise in accidents and an increased likelihood of becoming addicted to alcohol (Oteri et al., 2007; Malinauskas et al., 2007).
Deux études en provenance des USA et d’Italie constatent également une très nette tendance des jeunes consommateurs à associer ces boissons à la consommation d’alcool, ce qui a pour effet de réduire les signes de l’intoxication alcoolique et la prise de conscience de cet état, avec comme conséquence une augmentation des accidents et la possibilité de développer une dépendance à l’alcool (Oteri et al., 2007; Malinauskas et al., 2007).
