We bestuderen ook het gebruik van intra-operatieve radiotherapie (IORT) om een bijkomende “boost” dosis te geven bij een WBI schema. Het voordeel van APBI is dat de periode tijdens dewelke bestraling gepland is, verkort van 3 tot 7 weken voor hypo- en standaard gefractioneerde WBI, tot slechts 1 of 2 weken, of soms zelfs alleen maar het verblijf in de operatiekamer.
Nous étudions également les traitements d’irradiation intra-opératoires (IORT) pour fournir une dose « boost » supplémentaire à la WBI. L'avantage de l’APBI concerne la réduction de la durée d’irradiation, allant de trois à sept semaines pour la WBI hypo-fractionnée ou standard, à seulement 1 ou 2 semaines, voire un simple séjour en salle d’opération pour l’APBI. Cela rend le traitement plus commode pour les patients.
