In tegenstelling tot andere landen bestaat er in ons land ook geen duidelijkheid over wanneer een behandeling als kosteneffectief kan beschouwd worden, met andere woorden welke prijs wij als maatschappij bereid zijn om te betalen voor een levensverlengende of levenskwaliteitverbeterende behandeling (vaak uitgedrukt in QALY = Quality Adjusted Life Year gained).
Contrairement à ce qui existe dans d’autres pays, il n’y a pas en Belgique d’indication claire de ce que représente le rapport coût-efficacité d’un traitement ou, en d’autres termes, du prix que nous sommes prêts à payer en tant que société pour obtenir un traitement qui prolonge la vie ou améliore la qualité de vie (souvent exprimé en QALY gagnées = Quality Adjusted Life Year gained ou années de vie corrigées en fonction du bien-être).
