Dans ce contexte, la notion d’orientation thérapeutique se rapporte au domaine élargi des thérapies expérientielles-humanistes: environ 70% des études reprises concernent la psychothérapie centrée sur le client et ses ramifications expérientielles (psychothérapie orientée sur le focusing et « process-experiential »); 20% se réfèrent à des formes de psychothérapie « de soutien et non-directives» et les 10% restants à la thérapie Gestalt, la psychothérapie existentielle et psychodramatique.
