Le rapport final, intitulé «Innovative Drug Development Approaches» (Approches en matière de développement de médicaments innovants), est axé sur l'identification de goulots d'étranglement scientifiques et de sciences émergeantes dans le développement de médicaments – à la fois au niveau des activités de recherche et développement menées par l'industrie et au niveau de l'environnement universitaire – ainsi que sur la formulation de recommandations d'actions futures pour l'EMEA.

Daarnaast zal het Geneesmiddelenbureau zich richten op het ontplooien van initiatieven die zijn voorgesteld door de EMEA/CHMP-denktank voor innovatieve geneesmiddelenontwikkeling (Think-Tank on innovative drug development), zal het zijn steun aan kleine en middelgrote ondernemingen voortzetten en zal het projecten ondernemen om de impact en de consistentie van zijn wetenschappelijke adviezen te beoordelen.
