Met het oog op het opsporen en voorstellen van actielijnen voor België, voerden we een vergelijkende studie uit van de structuren voor preventie en behandeling van burnout bij huisartsen die in het buitenland werden opgezet (Australië, Canada, Spanje, Frankrijk, Ierland, Noorwegen, Zwitserland, en Verenigd Koninkrijk) De bestudeerde structuren zijn: Association d’Aide professionnelle aux médecins libéraux (AAPML) in Frankrijk, ‘Doctors for Doctors’ in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, het Programme d'Attention Intégrale pour le Médecin Malade (PAIMM) in Spanje, het ‘Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) Health in Practice Programme’ (HIPP) in Ierland, Victorian Doctors Health Program in Australië, het Programme d’aide aux médecins du Québec (PAMQ) als ook de specifieke programma’s van de Canadeze provincies en het Physician Health Programme (PHP) in de Verenigde Staten.
Pour identifier et proposer des pistes d’action pour la Belgique, nous avons réalisé une étude comparative des structures de prévention et de prise en charge du burnout des médecins mises en place à l’étranger. Ont été analysés : l’Association d’Aide professionnelle aux médecins libéraux (AAPML) en France, ‘Doctors for Doctors’ au Royaume-Uni, le Programme d'Attention Intégrale pour le Médecin Malade (PAIMM) en Espagne, le ‘Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) Health in Practice Programme’ (HIPP) en Irlande, le Victorian Doctors Health Program en Australie, le Programme d’aide aux médecins du Québec (PAMQ) ainsi que les programmes spécifiques des provinces canadiennes et les Physician Health Programme (PHP)aux Etats-Unis ;

Le Collège irlandais des médecins généralistes (ICGP - Irish College of General Practitioners) a mis au point un programme de soutien pour la santé des médecins généralistes irlandais et leur famille (HIPP - The Health in Practice Programme), en vue de leur assurer un accès aisé et confidentiel à des soins de santé, à une information personnalisée sur la santé et à un programme d’éducation à la santé 51 .
