Hierbij heeft men de keuze tussen een behandeling waarbij de bronnen continu, gedurende enkele dagen geïmplanteerd worden (LDR brachytherapie), ofwel wordt de dosis over enkele dagen in pulsen toegediend (PDR brachytherapie), ofwel wordt de dosis in enkele hoog gedoseerde fracties toegediend (HDR brachytherapie).
Dans ce cas, on a le choix entre trois traitements: soit les sources sont implantées en continu durant quelques jours (LDR Brachythérapie), soit la dose est administrée par impulsions réparties sur quelques jours (PDR Brachythérapie), soit la dose est administrée en quelques fractions hautement dosées (HDR Brachythérapie).
