Indien de slaapstoornis een van de belangrijkste klachten is en wordt gezien als een op zichzelf staande aandoening, dient over het algemeen deze code te worden gebruikt samen met andere ter zake dienende diagnosen die de psychopathologie en pathofysiologie beschrijven die in een bepaald geval een rol spelen. Deze afdeling omvat slechts die slaapstoornissen waarin emotionele oorzaken gehouden worden voor de primaire factor en die niet het gevolg zijn van aanwijsbare lichamelijke stoornissen die elders zijn geclassificeerd.

Savoir si, chez un patient donné, un trouble du sommeil est une perturbation indépendante ou simplement l'une des manifestations d'un autre trouble classé, soit dans ce chapitre, soit dans d'autres chapitres, doit être précisé sur la base des éléments cliniques et de l'évolution, aussi bien qu'à partir de considérations et de priorités thérapeutiques au moment de la consultation. En règle générale, ce code doit être utilisé conjointement à d'autres diagnostics pertinents décrivant la psychopathologie et la physiopathologie impliquées dans un cas donné, quand la perturbation du sommeil est une des plaintes prépondérantes et quand elle est ressentie comme une affection en elle-même. Cette catégorie comprend uniquement les troubles du sommeil qui sont imputables à des facteurs émotionnels. Omschrijving: Een groep stoornissen waarin angst wordt opgeroepen enkel of overwegend, in bepaalde goed-omschreven situaties die niet als gevaarlijk gelden. Het is typerend dat dientengevolge deze situaties vermeden of met grote angst verdragen worden. De ongerustheid van de betrokkene kan gericht zijn op afzonderlijke symptomen, zoals hartkloppingen of een wee gevoel en gaat vaak gepaard met bijkomende angstgevoelens om dood te gaan, zich niet meer in de hand te hebben of gek te worden. Zich in gedachten verplaatsen in de fobie veroorzakende situatie wekt doorgaans anticipatie-angst op. Fobische angst en depressiviteit gaan dikwijls samen. Of twee diagnosen nodig zijn, fobische angst en een depressieve episode of slechts één, wordt bepaald door het verloop van de twee ziekten in de tijd en door therapeutische overwegingen ten tijde van het consult.
