In het geval van gecompliceerde diverticulitis of bij persisterende klachten beveelt de NHG-Standaard aan om door te verwijzen. Op basis van consensus wordt in België gekozen voor ciprofloxacine + metronidazol (ciprofloxacine 2 x 500 mg per dag, metronidazol 3 x 500 mg per dag; gedurende 7 tot 10 dagen) of amoxicilline-clavulaanzuur (3 x 500/125 mg per dag, gedurende 14 dagen).
Le choix d’un traitement antibiotique proposé en Belgique, par consensus, se porte sur l’association ciprofloxacine + métronidazole (ciprofloxacine 2 x 500 mg par jour, métronidazole 3 x 500 mg par jour; pendant 7 à 10 jours) ou amoxicilline-clavulanate (3 x 500/125 mg par jour pendant 7 à 14 jours).
