Het Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA) van de EFSA had voorgesteld de toelating tot het op de markt brengen, te verlenen voor een verbruik gedurende maximum 6 maanden. Het vroeg ook om op het etiket te vermelden dat het product voor mensen met diabetes type 2, die geneeskundig toezicht nodig hebben, niet aan te bevelen is (EFSA, 2010a).

De Commissie heeft ontwerpen van beschikking op basis van de adviezen van het Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA) van de EFSA voorgesteld betreffende twee dossiers van toelatingsaanvraag om aan CLA rijke oliën op de markt te brengen met het oog op hun verwerking in verschillende voedingsmiddelen (met name vruchtensappen, graanproducten en zuivelbereidingen), alsmede over de erkenning als “novel food ingredient”.
