Likewise, research carried out up to now has shown that there appears to be a definite connection in all countries, both industrial and developing countries, between alcohol consumption (notably in the Russian Federation and the Baltic states), free access to certain toxic substances (e.g. in China, India and Sri Lanka) and firearms (e.g. in El Salvador and the United States) on the one hand, and the rate of suicide on the other.
