We bestuderen ook het gebruik van intra-operatieve radiotherapie (IORT) om een bijkomende “boost” dosis te geven bij een WBI schema. Het voordeel van APBI is dat de periode tijdens dewelke bestraling gepland is, verkort van 3 tot 7 weken voor hypo- en standaard gefractioneerde WBI, tot slechts 1 of 2 weken, of soms zelfs alleen maar het verblijf in de operatiekamer.
Nous étudions également les traitements d’irradiation intra-opératoires (IORT) pour fournir une dose « boost » supplémentaire à la WBI. Technieken voor APBI die geïdentificeerd werden in de literatuur variëren van brachytherapie met gebruik van isotopen of elektronen, tot uitwendige bundelbestralingstechnieken die gebruik maken van MV fotonen of MeV elektronen, of intra-operatieve radiatietherapieën (IORT) geleverd met kV fotonen of MeV elektronen.
