Anxiolytisch, sederend 'major' neurolepticum, alifatisch derivaat van fenothiazine met centrale werking die in vitro aanzienlijk krachtiger is dan die van chloorpromazine. De huidige hypothese ter staving van de antipsychotische werking ervan berust op de blokkering van de limbische en/of corticale dopaminerge receptoren.
