De gekende risicofactoren voor osteonecrose van de kaak omvatten: kankerdiagnose, geassocieerde behandelingen (vb. chemotherapie, radiotherapie, corticosteroïden), slechte mondhygiëne geassocieerde aandoeningen (vb. periodontale aandoening en/of voorafbestaande mondziekte, anemie, stollingsstoornissen, infectie) en roken.
Les facteurs de risque bien connus de l’ostéonécrose de la mâchoire incluent le diagnostic d’un cancer, les traitements associés (ex : chimiothérapie, radiothérapie, corticoïdes), mauvaise hygiène buccale, des maladies associées (ex : maladie parodontale et/ou maladie buccale préexistante, anémie, troubles de la coagulation, infection) et fumer.
