Lokaal metronidazol is de eerste keuze.
Le métronidazole par voie locale est le médicament de premier choix.

Metronidazol wordt onder vorm van gel (0,75%), in het begin van de behandeling tweemaal daags aangebracht, nadien éénmaal daags.
Il est appliqué sous forme d' un gel à 0,75% deux fois par jour au début du traitement, puis une fois par jour.

Metronidazol zowel lokaal (1 ovule (0,75%) 500 mg per dag bij het slapen gaan, gedurende 5 à 7 dagen) als per os (eenmalige dosis 2 g) worden aangeraden.
Le métronidazole, aussi bien local (1 ovule 500 mg 0,75% au coucher, pendant 5 à 7 jours) qu’oral (2 g en prise unique) est recommandé.

In het geval van gecompliceerde diverticulitis of bij persisterende klachten beveelt de NHG-Standaard aan om door te verwijzen. Op basis van consensus wordt in België gekozen voor ciprofloxacine + metronidazol (ciprofloxacine 2 x 500 mg per dag, metronidazol 3 x 500 mg per dag; gedurende 7 tot 10 dagen) of amoxicilline-clavulaanzuur (3 x 500/125 mg per dag, gedurende 14 dagen).
Le choix d’un traitement antibiotique proposé en Belgique, par consensus, se porte sur l’association ciprofloxacine + métronidazole (ciprofloxacine 2 x 500 mg par jour, métronidazole 3 x 500 mg par jour; pendant 7 à 10 jours) ou amoxicilline-clavulanate (3 x 500/125 mg par jour pendant 7 à 14 jours).
