46. dringt er bij de EDEO en de Commissie op aan om op basis van het werk van het Europees forum van lidstaten een actief standpunt in te nemen binnen de relevante internationale fora, onder meer door de standpunten van de lidstaten te coördineren met het oog op de bevordering van de kernwaarden, doelstellingen en het beleid van de EU inzake internetbeveiliging en veerkracht van het internet; merkt op dat tot deze fora instellingen behoren zoals de NAVO, de VN (in het bijzonder via de Internationale Telecommunicatie-unie en het forum voor internetbeheer), de Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, de Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, de OVSE, de OESO en de Wereldbank;
46. Urges the EEAS and the Commission, on the basis of the work done by the European Forum of Member States, to secure an active position within the relevant international forums, inter alia by coordinating the positions of the Member States with a view to promoting the EU's core values, goals and policies in the field of internet security and resilience; notes that such forums include NATO, the UN (in particular through the International Telecommunication Union and the Internet Governance Forum), the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, the OSCE, the OECD and the World Bank;

27. is ingenomen met het werk dat tot dusverre door het Europees forum van lidstaten is verricht ten aanzien van de vaststelling van sectorspecifieke criteria voor het opsporen van Europese kritieke infrastructuren, met een nadruk op vaste en mobiele communicatiemiddelen, alsook ten aanzien van de bespreking van de beginselen en richtsnoeren van de EU betreffende de veerkracht en stabiliteit op het internet; kijkt ernaar uit om te blijven werken aan de consensus tussen de lidstaten en moedigt in dit verband het forum aan om de huidige op fysieke voorzieningen gerichte aanpak te koppelen aan inspanningen om ook logische-infrastructuurvoorzieningen erin op te nemen die, naarmate virtualisatie- en cloudtechnologieën verder ontwikkeld worden, steeds belangrijker worden voor de doeltreffendheid van de bescherming van kritieke informatie-infrastructuur;
27. Welcomes the work accomplished so far by the European Forum of Member States in terms of setting sector-specific criteria to identify European critical infrastructures with a focus on fixed and mobile communications, as well as discussing the EU principles and guidelines for the resilience and stability of the internet; looks forward to continued consensus-building among the Member States, and in this context encourages the Forum to complement the current approach focused on physical assets with efforts to also encompass logical infrastructure assets which, as virtualisation and cloud technologies develop, will become increasingly relevant to the effectiveness of CIIP;

9. benadrukt het belang van het forum voor internetbeheer (Internet Governance Forum) als een multilateraal forum waar alle belanghebbenden zijn vertegenwoordigd, zoals het Europees Parlement al eerder heeft gedaan in zijn resolutie van 17 januari 2008 over het tweede forum voor internetbeheer dat plaatsvond in Rio de Janeiro van 12 tot 15 november 2007;
9. Stresses the importance of the Internet Governance Forum as a multilateral forum in which all stakeholders are represented, as already stated by the European Parliament in its resolution of 17 January 2008 on the second Internet Governance Forum, held in Rio de Janeiro from 12 to 15 November 2007;

5. wenst dat de Commissie aan het Europees Parlement jaarlijks verslag uitbrengt, gevolgd door een debat, over internetgovernance en de werkzaamheden van de "review panels" van de ICANN; is verheugd over het bestaan van het Internet Governance Forum (IGF); benadrukt dat het belangrijk is dat er vertegenwoordigers van het Europees Parlement en de Commissie alsmede vertegenwoordigers van verenigingen van internetgebruikers aanwezig zijn op de Internationale ICANN-conferentie in juni;
5. Calls for the Commission to report to Parliament annually, followed by a debate, on internet governance and the work of the ICANN review panels; welcomes the existence of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF); stresses the importance of having European Parliament and Commission representatives and representatives of internet users’ associations attend the ICANN international meeting in June;
