Omschrijving: Toestanden van subjectieve spanning en emotionele ontregeling die doorgaans het sociaal functioneren en optreden belemmeren en ontstaan in de periode van aanpassing aan een belangrijke levensverandering of stressveroorzakende levensgebeurtenis. De stressveroorzakende factor kan de samenhang van iemands sociale netwerk aangetast hebben (sterfgeval, scheiding) of sociale steun en waarden in groter verband (migratie, vluchtelingenstatus) of vertegenwoordigde een belangrijke ontwikkelingsstap of crisis (naar school gaan, ouder worden, falen in het bereiken van een dierbaar persoonlijk doel, pensionering). Definition: States of subjective distress and emotional disturbance, usually interfering with social functioning and performance, arising in the period of adaptation to a significant life change or a stressful life event. The stressor may have affected the integrity of an individual's social network (bereavement, separation experiences) or the wider system of social supports and values (migration, refugee status), or represented a major developmental transition or crisis (going to school, becoming a parent, failure to attain a cherished personal goal, retirement). Individual predisposition or vulnerability plays an important role in the risk of occurrence and the shaping of the manifestations of adjustment disorders, but it is nevertheless assumed that the condition would not have arisen without the stressor. The manifestations vary and include depressed mood, anxiety or worry (or mixture of these), a feeling of inability to cope, plan ahead, or continue in the present situation, as well as some degree of disability in 9the performance of daily routine. IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

In 1993 is bij resolutie van de Raad het communautaire beleids- en actieprogramma inzake milieu en duurzame ontwikkeling (het Vijfde Actieprogramma) vastgesteld. In dat actieprogramma werd er reeds van uitgegaan dat het Cohesiefonds steun zou verlenen voor het bereiken van de Verdragsdoelstellingen, in het bijzonder voor het oplossen van specifieke problemen, zoals vermindering van de watervervuiling en adequaat afvalbeheer.
The Community programme of policy and action in relation to the environment and sustainable development (the Fifth Action Programme) - adopted by Resolution of the Council in 1993 - provided for the Cohesion Fund to assist in the achievement of the Treaty objectives and, in particular, in resolving detailed Community environmental issues such as the reduction of water pollution and appropriate waste management.

Overeenkomstig artikel 3 van Verordening (EG) nr. 1164/94, als gewijzigd bij Verordening (EG) nr. 1264/1999, kan het Cohesiefonds steun verlenen voor vervoersinfrastructuurprojecten van gemeenschappelijk belang, die door de lidstaten worden gefinancierd en in het kader van de richtsnoeren voor de ontwikkeling van de TEN-T worden geïdentificeerd.
